Our purpose

The body is a living territory

Because our bodies are at once territories to inhabit, memories to listen to and spaces from which to transform the world.

Our ecosystem

Three interdependent pillars

Care, Transmission and Reciprocity: three inseparable commitments that shape everything we do.

Pillar 2 · Transmission

Passing on knowledge to care for the world

Workshops, circles and gatherings to pass on knowledge, keep memories alive and reconnect with the living world. Because we only defend what we love, and we only love what we know. Passing on the memory of plants, territories and know-how gives everyone the means to better understand the world around them, so that they in turn can care for it.

Pillar 3 · Reciprocity

Sharing value differently

What we receive from territories comes with a responsibility. The knowledge, plants and stories that nourish our project invite us to share value differently. That is why every purchase includes a fixed amount paid directly to our partner projects, on top of which we add 15% of our net profits. This funding supports initiatives led by women and their organisations, in France and internationally, who defend their rights, build their autonomy and care for their territories.

Our philosophy

The symbiosis between body and territory

Terres d'Ocre draws on care to bring new life to the bond between body and territory

  1. Care for yourselfOur starting point: the cosmetic gesture, the daily ritual and the sincere attention you give to your body.
  2. Care for othersYour purchases fund concrete projects that support women's empowerment, create social bonds and pass on knowledge between territories.
  3. Care for the planetHealthy, water-free, zero-plastic products made through short supply chains. Demanding choices to preserve the balance of the living world.
The symbiosis between body and territory

The body is a living territory

When you apply a cosmetic product, you are not putting a substance on a surface. You are nourishing an ecosystem that breathes, repairs and transforms.

But the body is not only an ecosystem to be preserved. It is our first territory: the one we inhabit, the one through which we relate to the world. And this intimate territory is never separate from the one around us.

Our bodies bear the traces of the territories we inhabit. They can be marked by their pollution, contamination and violence, but also by their resources, knowledge, bonds and beauty. The body holds a memory — individual and collective — of our environments.

On a larger scale, the individual body mirrors the collective body. Our blood flows like rivers. Our lungs breathe like forests. Our cells feed like the soil. What affects territories ends up affecting the bodies that inhabit them. And caring for one means caring for the other.

This continuity guides our choices of formulation, suppliers, partners and business model. It invites us to think of care as a relationship: caring for ourselves, for others and for the territories we depend on.

Everything really is connected.

What we do

Terres d'Ocre has set up a Social Impact Fund to support initiatives led by partner organisations in France and internationally that contribute to social justice, the ecological transition and women's empowerment, notably by passing on knowledge between territories.

Corporación Vamos Mujer

From our launch, we have been working alongside our partner in Medellín, the Corporación Vamos Mujer, on their initiative devoted to the Women's Economy.

Born from an essential question — “How do women shape the economy?” — this initiative supports women producers and artisans in the Antioquia region (textiles, food, crafts). Through their know-how, these women support the autonomy of their households and communities, while embodying a sovereign alternative to large industrial supply chains. A model that restores a noble, solidarity-based and empowering value to women's work.

Vamos Mujer is a Colombian feminist organisation committed to the right to a dignified life. It promotes respect, solidarity, equity and justice as the foundations of human relationships and of our relationship with nature. The organisation supports the full emancipation of women, backs the political and social autonomy of their groups, and helps build a democratic, inclusive and peaceful citizenship.

ESUS status

Solidarity Enterprise of Social Utility.

The ESUS approval is granted by the French State to organisations whose core activity is social utility. It imposes a legal framework of limited profit-making, in which most profits must be reinvested to sustain the mission.

Beyond this legal obligation, we have chosen to go further, with two direct financial commitments to support initiatives led by women and their organisations, in France and internationally, who defend their rights, work towards their emancipation and transform their territories:

  • A guaranteed fixed amount on every product purchased, paid directly to our partner projects.
  • 15% of our net profits are devoted entirely to them every year.

This approval, renewable only if the criteria are strictly met, guarantees the transparency of our commitment.

Learn more about impact measurement and transparency through technology

To ensure real traceability of our actions, we rely on two digital management tools, used across France and South America.

The Zaku platform · Tracking impact indicators

Zaku brings all our field data together: the number of workshops held, the women supported, the amounts paid directly to programmes and the testimonies gathered.

The Mamuco tool · Assessing gender gaps

Developed in collaboration with Terres d'Ocre, Mamuco maps and measures gender inequality within organisations. We make it available to all our partner organisations.

These tools make every action traceable: the foundation of complete transparency about our impact.
